Happy Anniversary! 1.11.11 1 Year in the Business!

January12

Today I celebrate the 1 year anniversary of Mitchi Photography.  This day just creeped up on me, I didn’t realize until today at 10:45 am that I had officially registered Mitchi Photography as a new business with the County of Sacramento and got my business license with the City of Elk Grove.  For the past few days I kept wanting to look at my receipt from County of Sacramento to determine the date.  I didn’t do it until this morning when I got home from the gym; and never realized that my 1 year anniversary would fall on a special date.  I hope that I will be blessed continually because this is what I love to do, capturing every moment of everyday life.  As I write this blog, I havent even thought about what picture to blog because I was not prepared for this special day of my business.  I wanted to post some of my favorite shots of the year, but that just might be way too many pictures.  So, I decided to just do it because these are the pictures that made Mitchi Photography in the first year…

But before I do that, I just want to thank everyone for being so supportive of my craft. Without my friends, family and customers,  who believed in me I don’t think I’d be writing this blog.

I do believe that dreams, big or small do come true.  This has been my lifelong dream to become a photographer, ever since the 7th grade shooting with the best camera I thought in those days, a Pentax K-1000.  I was always scared to learn all I needed to learn about this profession, thinking that I was never creative enough to become one.  I was wrong.  I had the creativity, I just needed to develop it.  It came later in life, because I never trusted myself to succeed in photography, so I made other things matter more.  However, I never let the passion for  photography fade, I always kept it alive by  always owning camera.  Then, when I had my first child, the passion came alive and it never went away.

I got my first very own SLR in 1999 when my son Sinjun was born, a Canon Rebel.  I spent a lot of money on film and developing until I upgraded to a digital Canon Rebel in 2003. It was at this time that I was not scared of taking shots, because I did not have to buy film and develop the pictures just to view them.  In 2007 I saved enough money to buy another camera, a Canon 40d.  I shot with this camera until 2010 when I finally broke down and bought a Canon 5d Mark II and Canon 7d (for my kids sports); I also got some professional lenses to go with the camera.

I landed my first wedding gig in 2009, shooting my step-daughters wedding.  After that day, I was hooked in doing wedding photography and portraits. So with my eyes closed and the attitude of “que sera sera” and knowing that God always has a special plan for me, I made it official last year to make this a business venture. I have not regretted this decision.

I even got to photograph some famous people this year.  I feel like PAPARAZZI!  The most famous…………Justin Bieber in concert!

The photos I am posting are in no particular order, just posing pictures I wanted to highlight my first year as Mitchi Photography!

This is my most favorite of ALL!
